COMMUNITY ANCHOR ORGANISATION
Hudson House is pleased to announce that the first projects to strengthen our community are up and running. Activities for the older members of our community are being organised by Reeth and District Community Transport and our younger community members are benefitting from funding to support a “wrap around” care scheme for the Primary School. This gives before and after school care, allowing flexibility for working parents. Following suggestions made at our recent open day and evening, courses are also taking place at the moment for computer, mobile and online banking skills. If you have any ideas for future projects, please contact us.

INFORMATION CENTRE AND SHOP
Hudson House volunteers have stepped in to run the new Information Centre and Shop which has replaced the old National Park Visitor Centre. We started operating on 7 April and are currently building up our stock of items and widening the range. Apart from maps, guide books, hats, cards, calendars and children’s items we are branching out into dog leads, mugs, wildlife information sheets and artisan honeys and pickles. We have also taken the opportunity of the new start to focus the Centre much more on Swaledale and Arkengarthdale. We are now in the process of updating the signage on the front of Hudson House to reflect the changes to the visitor centre and the services we provide. So look out for a cleaner, clearer and simplified building.

Volunteering is easy, so if you are interested in meeting people and telling them about the wonderful place in which we live and what they can see here, then please contact us.

COMING SOON FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
We are planning a photographic exhibition for young people later this year. Look out for posters outside Hudson House and in the other usual places. More details will be in the Gazette in due course.
